Q: What is CHIROPRACTIC?
A: Chiropractic is a natural form of health care that focuses on correcting misalignments in the spine called subluxations. The spine enhouses your spinal cord and most of the nerves in the body. When one or more vertebrae lose their normal position, they interfere with the nerves they were meant to protect. This interference can cause pressure or irritation on the spinal cord and/or on the nerve roots as they pass out of the spinal column. The nervous system controls every function of the body: every cell, every tissue, and every organ. A chiropractor will adjust the spine to correct the misalignment and restore proper nerve flow to the body.
Q: Is CHIROPRACTIC care safe?
A: When performed by a trained professional, chiropractic is one of the safest forms of health care. Chiropractors do not perform surgery or prescribe medications. Instead, they adjust the spine using either their hands or a hand-held, percussive instrument. Chiropractors may also recommend massage therapy, spinal rehabilitation and nutritional supplements to improve nerve function.
Q: How long do you need CHIROPRACTIC care?
A: The length of care will vary with each individual depending on the severity of the condition. Initial treatment can range from 2 to 4 weeks; this may include spinal adjustments, soft tissue massage and stretches. After initial treatment is completed, you may choose corrective care for long term spinal stabalization which involves adjustments, exercises and traction or supportive care which is periodic check-ups to ensure your spine and nerve system are functioning at optimal performance
